WWE Money in the Bank Predictions!

WWE’s exciting Money in the Bank pay-per-view is this Sunday and so that means it’s time for me to post my predictions!  The Money in the Bank concept was introduced in a five-year gap where I wasn’t watching wrestling and this is the first time I’ll be able to watch its namesake PPV live.  After catching up on past Money in the Bank matches on the WWE Network, I’m incredibly excited for this event.  With two big ladder matches, this could be one of the most entertaining events of the year (even with a handful of throwaway matches).  Hit the jump to see my picks for the event and then follow me on Twitter Sunday night as I live-tweet the show!

SETH ROLLINS vs DEAN AMBROSE vs KOFI KINGSTON vs JACK SWAGGER vs BAD NEWS BARRETT vs ROB VAN DAM vs DOLPH ZIGGLER
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
I’ve spent the last few weeks catching up on old Money in the Bank matches thanks to the WWE Network (which I wholeheartedly endorse) and I have to think that this year’s match has the potential to be one of the best MITB matches yet.  All seven of these men are amongst the best workers in the company and represent a wide enough array of styles that this could be a really exciting match-up.  I will also own up to the fact that I have rewritten this prediction multiple times because I seriously have no idea who is going to win this match.  RVD and Kofi will do some really crazy highspots, but I don’t see either of them winning the match.  Ambrose and Dean will be the story of the match, but I think they’ll cancel one another out.  Swagger feels like an afterthought and I’m not expecting anything big out of him until they do the obvious thing and put him against Rusev.  I really want Ziggler to win this, but the WWE seems intent on keeping him down.  That leaves Barrett, who has a lot of momentum going his way.  I feel that having both the Money in the Bank briefcase and the Intercontinental Title is too much, but other than Ziggler, he is the readiest to take the spotlight.
Prediction: BAD NEWS BARRETT

SUMMER RAE vs LAYLA
Special Guest Referee FANDANGO
The last match added to the card was this Divas match, which should close the feud between Fandango’s dance partners.  Even though they have been building this one up for the last few months, I still feel like they’ve shortchanged this feud.  Then again, I’ve felt like Fandango has been underutilized in the last year or so.  Hopefully having this PPV match centered around him will jump start the things for this incredibly talented star.  I’ve been confused on who is supposed to be the face in this match.  If you only watch the main roster, Summer Rae has been built as a face, but if you also watch her on NXT, she has still been a heel as part of the BFFs.  I suspect that her full face turn will happen this match, which means she will probably lose to Layla, who will remain a heel with Fandango.  I’ve only seen a handful of Layla matches, but I know from NXT that Summer Rae is more talented than she has been shown on the main roster.  Hopefully these two can put together something impressive.
Prediction: LAYLA

RUSEV vs BIG E
After their match at Payback was such a throwaway, I’m really surprised that we are getting a repeat again at Money in the Bank.  I would feel better about this if there was any buildup whatsoever.  Now without a title, Big E has absolutely nothing going for him at the moment and they won’t do anything to jeopardize Rusev’s monster push at the moment.  This might get brutal as both of these men are big time brawlers, but in the end, Rusev is going to crush Big E and every other opponent until they finally put him with a main event opponent.
Prediction: RUSEV

RYBAXEL vs THE DUST BROTHERS
This match would be a total throwaway for me if it weren’t for the fact that Cody Rhodes’s new persona is so incredibly well done.  Cody is completely committed to Stardust and it is simply amazing to watch.  Every mannerism is perfect.  His body language, his timing, his move set—everything about the character is fresh and builds the character.  It is a master class in development and I sincerely hope that the fans get behind the character so that Stardust stays around for a while.  This could mean big things for Cody and it all starts with a high profile win over the proverbial whipping boys Ryback and Curtis Axel.
Prediction: GOLDUST and STARDUST

NAOMI vs PAIGE ©
Divas Championship
Of all the matches on the card, I feel that this is the easiest one to pick.  Paige is on a roll as of late, but has yet to fully capture the love of the fans.  She has put on some incredible matches in NXT, but hasn’t had that standout match that will win over the WWE Universe.  This could definitely be that match.   I see the Funkadactyls breaking up after Cameron costs Naomi the match, leading to a feud between the two.  The Divas division needs to have some high profile feuds in order to be “legitimized.”  Naomi and Cameron’s feud would be a nice second fiddle to Paige and whomever she battles next.  My only hope is that this isn’t used as a “cool down” match before the main event as it has on the last three pay-per-views.  With the NXT Women’s division being the highlight of that show, I think we have a precedent for a new renaissance of women’s wrestling.  I wholeheartedly think the quality of these two performers could jumpstart this new era (though it won’t come close to that Charlotte/Natalya match at NXT Takeover, which is arguably the greatest women’s match I’ve ever seen).  It’s time for WWE to give their women a chance to actually shine.
Prediction: PAIGE

ERIK ROWAN and LUKE HARPER vs JIMMY USO and JAY USO ©
Tag Team Championship
Personally, I would have held off on this match-up until Summerslam.  Rowan and Harper deserve to be the team to take the titles off of the Usos, but I don’t feel that the Usos are ready to lose the tag titles just yet.  I would rather see them beat a few lower profile tag teams at Money in the Bank and Battleground, building towards a huge battle between the Wyatts and the Usos at Summerslam.  That being said, with Wyatt having lost to John Cena at both Wrestlemania and Payback, the faction needs the win here (and they have that fancy new theme music).  If the Usos do win, it will be by disqualification so the Wyatts can keep their reputation intact.  Unfortunately for Jimmy and Jay, I don’t see them leaving with the titles.
Prediction: THE WYATT FAMILY

ALBERTO DEL RIO vs CESARO vs SHEAMUS vs BRAY WYATT vs JOHN CENA vs ROMAN REIGNS vs KANE vs RANDY ORTON
World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match
Much like the briefcase match, I’ve changed my prediction on this multiple times.  The only thing I can say for certain is that Alberto del Rio will not win this match.   Sorry, ‘Berto.  Any of the seven others could feasibly walk out with the belt.  I want Roman Reigns to win, but I get the feeling they want to wait until one of the main PPVs for him to take the title.  My second choice would be Bray Wyatt, but I feel that the character needs to win the title in a one-on-one match.  Cena, Orton, and Kane are all safe choices; to a lesser degree, I’d also put Sheamus in that camp.  If Daniel Bryan announces that he’ll be back to wrestle at Battleground in July, I think Kane will win.  Cesaro absolutely will be world champion one day, but I don’t see that happening until he has a chance to have a headlining feud.  That seems like a stretch, though.  Given that they are in Boston and that a Brock Lesnar vs Cena poster for Summerslam has already leaked online, I have to give this one to Cena, even though he is seriously the LAST person in the match that I want to win.  Although I expect him to win, the only way I’ll be okay with Cena winning is if the winner of the briefcase match immediately cashes in and wins the title.
Prediction: JOHN CENA
